Paisatges tòxics: una reflexió sobre les espacialitats de l’Antropocè

Resum

Aquest article explora els paisatges tòxics i la seva importància a la llum de l’Antropocè. Comença proposant el concepte de paisatge híbrid com a substitut del de paisatge cultural. A partir del materialisme relacional de la teoria de l’actor-xarxa i del neovitalisme, es desenvolupa una concepció renovada de paisatge més atenta als entreteiximents entre humans i no humans. Així, argumentem que el concepte de paisatges tòxics, pres de l’arqueologia de la toxicitat, va en línia amb aquests qüestionaments ontològics i resulta pertinent per als debats de l’Antropocè, ja que col·loca el focus en les accions humanes sense perdre de vista l’agència del no humà. Finalitzem amb un cas il·lustratiu: Agbogbloshie, un centre de reciclatge i mineria urbana de metalls provinents de residus elèctrics i electrònics situat a Accra, Ghana.

Biografies de l'autor/a

Catalina Giraldo Villamizar, Universidad de Lisboa

Catalina Giraldo és llicenciada en Antropologia per la Universitat dels Andes de Bogotà i Magíster en Geografia Humana: Globalització, Societat i Territori de l'Institut de Geografia i Ordenació del Territori (IGOT) de la Universitat de Lisboa. Li interessen els estudis sobre residus, paisatges tòxics i l'Antropocè. La seva tesi de mestratge es va titular “Turisme en paisatges tòxics: el cas del centre de reciclatge Metalls Agbogbloshie a Ghana”. També interessa la història del pensament geogràfic, la geografia de gènere i els estudis de la cultura visual.

Eduardo Brito-Henriques, Universidade de Lisboa

Eduardo Brito-Henriques és professor associat de l'Instituto de Geografia e Ordenamento do Território, Universidade de Lisboa (IGOT-ULisboa) i investigador integrat de la seva unitat d'R&D, el Centro de Estudios Geográficos (CEG). A l'IGOT-ULisboa, Eduardo és membre del Consell Científic, coordinador del Màster en Turisme i Comunicació i cocoordinador del Màster en Geografia Humana: Globalització, Societat i Territori.
També és responsable del Grup de Recerca Turisme, Patrimoni i Espai (TERRITUR) del CEG.
Els interessos d'investigació d'Eduardo s'agrupen al voltant de les geografies turístiques, les mobilitats i les connexions globals, el patrimoni i els entrelaments socio-tecno-naturals dels paisatges culturals i les geografies de la devastació (desastres, cicatrius postindustrials i ciutats en reducció, ruïna, abocadors).
