La evaluación de la reducción de amenazas en el Parque Natural de la Zona Volcánica de la Garrotxa (Girona)

Abstract

This article presents the methodology and the results from application and adaptation of an assessment model conducted in the Natural Park of Volcanic Zone of the Garrotxa (PNZVG). As a whole, our intention is to assess the whole effectiveness of management from the degree of threat reduction in PNZVG. It was done through the development of an independent external evaluation, considering both the close collaboration between managers and governing bodies of the park, as well as active participation of various key stakeholders. We have concluded that after 25 years of Park existence, many of the initial threats have declined only modestly. What is more, from adapted index and taking a more realistic approach, we can reach the disturbing conclusion that some of the threats have increased.
