Salvador Llobet i Reverter: a lifetime of dedication to geography (1908-1991)

Abstract

During the 1950s, a very difficult period for Catalonia and, especially for Geography, Salvador Llobet became one of the forerunners in the institutionalization of Geography in Catalonia and in the beginnings of Geography at the university level. Salvador Llobet is, without a doubt, a key figure for understanding the birth and development of modern Catalan geography, very attached in their beginnings to mountaineering clubs. A pupil of the great masters of French regional geography, Llobet followed their teachings and, from different institutions, pushed for new perspectives on Geography and on the geographical world.
