The Gender Approach in a Content Block on Industrial Activity and Space in Post-Compulsory Secondary Education
Abstract
The objective of this article is to formulate a proposal of a unit of topics and teaching methods for post-compulsory secondary education an the theme of industrial space and activity and which would include the gender variable in analysis. The proposa1 is based on: a spatial perspective at world scale; a present day temporal perspective; an interdisciplinary and comprehensive approach; and the epistemological option of the radical paradigm. The resulting list of topics is an attempt to establish the relationship between the characteristics of industrial activity and its distribution at world scale, with special treatment of the gender variable where relevant, and especially in relation to the labour market and the internationalization of production. The article also makes some suggestions of concepts to be studied referring to female participation in industry, within this didactical unit and respecting the chosen epistemological approach.
