Abstract

The development of postcolonial studies leads the application of the colonial idea to other spatial temporal contexts like those environments inside National States (Territories, agricultural colonies, indian reservations). They turned to be the «otherness» of nation. This paper analyzes the formation of the Territory Northwest of the River Ohio in United States (1787) and the constitution of National Territories in Argentina (1884). Through the study of the norms that organize these territories we identify similarities and differences between their configurations. Finally, we discuss some hypothesis that could contribute to explain the short period of maintenance of the Territories in United States and their long existence in Argentina.
