La dona i la geografia universitària espanyola

Aquest article s'emmarca en el conjunt d'estudis que, iniciats recentment en diferents ciències socials, intenten incorporar la problemàtica de la dona com a element d'anàlisi, és a dir, la perspectiva del gènere. En el camp de la geografia les aportacions en aquesta línia s'han produït originàriament en la geografia anglosaxona. Caldrà esperar fins als anys vuitanta per trobar en la geografia espanyola alguna aportació -molt esporàdica- en aquest terreny.
La primera part de l'article analitza la presència de la dona geògrafa en el marc de la geografia universitària espanyola a partir de les respostes a un qüestionari adreçat a vint-i-sis departaments de geografia. Aquests qüestionaris contenen informació diversa sobre edat, sexe i status del professorat, així com informació addicional relacionada amb el tema. Es constata la minoritària presència del professorat femení en la geografia universitària espanyola (sobretot en les categories més altes), tot i que el percentatge és superior al de la geografia anglosaxona.
La segona part de l'article estudia la producció escrita de les geògrafes a partir de l'anàlisi de les revistes geogràfiques publicades pels departaments de geografia o per altres entitats. S'arriba a la conclusió que el percentatge d'articles publicats per geògrafes és, àdhuc, inferior al percentatge de professores dels departaments. Destaca una participació molt baixa en la producció d'articles de geografia física i de teoria geogràfica, així com una certa tendència a publicar treballs (població, urbana) sobre àmbits especials molt restringits.
