Meeting of the Commission on the Geography of Tourism and Leisure of the IGU (Palma de Mallorca, 1986)
Abstract
A meeting of the IGU Commission on the Geography of Tourism and Leisure was held in Palma de Mallorca from 25th to 30th August 1986. Present interest in the theme is borne out by participation figures, for it was the best attended of the thirteen IGU Commissions which met at the same time, with a total of fifty-three participants and the presentation of more than forty papers. The most important conclusions reached were that this recently emerged and stili expanding branch of study requires a more comprehensive methodological basis and that more attention and emphasis should be given to leisure and recreation studies.
