Geography in the Core Curriculum of the Future Compulsory Secondary Education Cycle in Catalonia

Abstract

This article outlines the framework used as a basis for the design of the geography syllabus for compulsory education for the 12-16 age group in Catalonia; and the relationship between concepts, method and attitude on the one hand, and the general objectives of education for this age group on the other. Also included are some reflexions on the contribution of geography to this syllabus and on the specific training needs of the teachers involved.
