On ecogeography and spatial planning
Abstract
The term eco-geography and others which emphasise the use without abuse of the environment are briefly commented upon in the light of the social demand and professional viewpoints which stimulates their appearance. The emerging approach is compared to certain concepts and methodologies proposed by various authors from schools spread over the world. More detailed study is made of some regional planning methods which include environment protection measures put into practice by interdisciplinary groups in several Spanish public bodies since the mid 1970s. Brief comments on coincident points and the limitations of such methods serve as a basis for reflexion on the necessity to view characteristics not only statically but also within the dynamics of the natural system.
